Good Hands Safaris Community Programs (GHSCP)
Good Hands Safaris believes in giving back to the community. In
this regard, we have programs that enhance and sustain the welfare
of the neighborhoods within the attraction sites that support our
business. We support local interest groups, self help development
projects, and schools. We attach a great deal of importance in meeting
this noble goal of extending a helping hand to the needy and impoverished
section of the society. We believe that there are those out there
who share our dream and would be willing to support us through monetary
support, professionalism, and donations. That is the reason why our
safaris also cater for special interest groups. As a company we dedicate
2% of our profits in supporting local projects. We understand that
our little contribution makes a difference to deserving people out
there. We truly believe in the old adage that says a journey of thousand
miles starts with a single step. We also understand that as we soldier
on with our policy of changing one life at a time, the impact will
be felt in the long run and have significant social impact. Some
of the projects that we have undertaken and continue to support are:
1.
Mai Mahiu Water project: This project is aimed at tapping
water from high catchment escapements of the great rift valley
to the dry area called Mai Mahiu inhabited by farmers and livestock
owners. This project involves securing water pumping equipment,
distribution pipes, and storage tanks. These people desperately
need clean and reliable water for their animals, farming and personal
use. This is a project that we have supported with a donation of
water pipes already and plan to support to its completion. A village/community
based self help group called “Mai Mahiu Self Help Group” exists
for that purpose and donations towards it would be highly appreciated.
Please contact us.
2. Rironi Bursary Fund: Good Hands Safaris promotes affordable
education to talented children. We are actively involved in supporting
educational programs that prepare the local children to become
productive citizens and future leaders. We achieve this noble goal
by financing a local bursary fund that benefits the top-notch students
in Rironi, Kenya. We also extend bursaries to students who major
in tourism in a writing skills competition. In a nutshell, GHS
contributes to the local community service by helping the residents
educate their children in high school and through college education.
We have identified merit-oriented benchmarks that govern the award
of scholarships, which is coordinated by a local parents board
while we provide logistic support and finances. Please
contact us for more information. We can arrange for direct project support
and a subsidized safari to go visit the needy.
3. Good Hands Safaris also supports and collects donations
for other environmental and wildlife conservation groups based
in Kenya. For details please contact us.
It is our desire that you will assist us support these projects
that will make the inhabitants of this region achieve their basic
needs and hopefully be part of the driving forces towards sustainable
development. It is our trust that the beneficiaries of our contributions
will continue to promote and safeguard Africa’s attractions
for future generations to come. For donations to these projects please
contact us.
We hope that you will follow your heart and
welcome you to take your journey with good hands....
